August 8: Cat Day!!

Today the world celebrates cats!

August 8 is International Cat Day!

And the timing?

A US Vice Presidential candidate who has had been blasted for the better part of a month for denigrating cat owners–particularly female cat owners– is still trying to talk his way out of not just bad word choice but explaining a mindset very few folks can comprehend.

Anyone who wants to succeed in politics will NEVER make a remark about a pet or pet owners.

Facebook groups and web sites have mushroomed since the cat comment was unearthed–Childless Cat Ladies for Kamala raising serious cash for the Harris-Walz ticket.

“We are run in this country … by a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives and the choices that they’ve made …”

J. D. Vance, aka, James Donald Bowman, aka Republican Vice Presidential candidate

I am a cat mamma.

My feline fur babies are members of the household–they actually run it.

I will take offense at anyone who gives me grief for loving and caring for creatures that add joy and giggles to my day!

So today, please add your photos of your fur babies in the comments.

Let’s celebrate felines today and everyday!

Oddly the web site suggests that today you “play with your cat for 5 minutes.” If I don’t spend at least 20 minutes daily having fun with Blackie he has separation anxiety!!

I have been a cat mamma since I was 10 and my Dad brought home a Siamese cat we named Athena. I slept with her under a table in the basement on her first night with us.

From Athena to Comere (yes, we called her Come Here and it stuck) to today’s Queen of the household–Flokati and the Prince– Black–I have enjoyed nurturing and loving and playing with felines for a lifetime.

Fake hillbilly be damned judging me!

Miserable life?

Celebrate cats today and let everyone know just what a

Cat-astrophe will come if you criticize us and our feline fur babies.
